In Sri Lanka, the tri-services parade with 21 gun salute, accompanied by a fly past and a sail past by the Air Force and the navy respectively, marked the second anniversary of the Sri Lanka’s military victory over the LTTE.Sri Lankan Police and the Civil Defence Forces also took part in the parade. The Victory Parade at the Galle Face Green in Colombo today was commanded by Major General Nanadana Udwatta , who led the 59 Division to gain control over Mullaithivu during the war with LTTE.Nearly 9,000 personnel from the security forces, who took an active part in the Eelam War IV, participated in the parade. Led by the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the island nation paid tributes to over 24,000 members of the Security Forces who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
