SJGY: Centre grants over 125 crore rupees to Bihar, Assam, Kerala & UP

Government on Thursday granted over 125 crore rupees to the States of Bihar, Assam, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh under the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SJGY). The grants released by Rural Develpment Ministry will be used for implementation of SJGY in these States in the current financial year. Out of the total, Assam was granted over 51 crore rupees for 21 districts in the State. Uttar Pradesh received over 48 crore rupees for 26 districts. Bihar was given over 16 crore rupees for four districts while Kerala was given over 10 crore rupees. Our Correspondent reports that the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana was launched in 1999 to give financial assistance to below poverty line households in rural areas.
