Sixth phase of Panchayat elections in Bihar to take place tomorrow

In Bihar, the sixth phase of Panchayat elections will take place on Friday. The elections will be held at 906 gram Panchayats in 58 blocks of the state in which eleven blocks are in Naxal infested areas. AIR Patna correspondent reports that over 51 lakh 42 thousand voters will decide the fate of 91 thousand 307 candidates. Twelve Thousand 683 polling stations have been made for polling. The State Election Commission has directed the government to immediately arrest miscreant elements and file charge sheet against them and start trial in fast track court. The State Director General of Police Neelmani told AIR that over thirty thousand trouble makers have so far been arrested through out the state. About 33 lakh rupees illegal money and two lakh 50 thousand liters illicit liquor have been seized. The Deputy Inspector General of Police has been instructed to camp in ultra-infested districts to ensure free and fair polls. The state authority has sealed the India-Nepal border along the state to check infiltration.
