In Andhra Pradesh, 16 persons were killed and 6 more missing as heavy rains continued to lash the coastal districts of the state on the fourth day today. Over 300 mandals were affected in 13 districts of Coastal and Rayalaseema Regions due to incessent rains under the infuence of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal coupled with retreating Northeast Monsoon. Several villages were marooned and low laying areas were inundated especially in coastal region. Streams and Reservoirs are overflowing due to downpour. Standing crops in over 2 lakh acres came under sheets of water. District authorities have been directed to be on high alert and evacuate people from low laying areas.
