In Uttar Pradesh, at least six western districts are facing flood threat due to heavy rain in Uttarakhand and continuous discharge of water from different barrages. Flood alert has been issued for Bijnore, Bareilly, Muradabad, Rampur, Pilibhit, and Shjhanpur districts. Traffic on highways and roads are also badly affected in western parts of Uttar Pradesh.Water has continuously been released from Banbasa barrage, Kalagarh dam, and Ramnagar and Hathnikund barrages for the last three days. The state met department has said that Monsoon is still active across the state and rain and thunder showers will occur in many places in the next forty eight hours.Yamuna has crossed the danger mark at Mawi in Muzaffarnagar. Ramganga River has also crossed the danger mark in Moradabad. Due to spate in rivers the, National highways are water-logged at various places. The Ramganga River is also rising in Bijnore, Bareilly and Shahjahanpur districts. National highway 74- between Bareilly to Haridwar has been closed for traffic. Two other highways Kashipur -Murdabad and Moradabad -Rampur have also been disturbed due to flood water from Ramganga River. Several villages of eastern UP districts mainly Gonda, Barabanki and Ayodhya have already facing flood for many days.
