In the Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir, six progressive poultry units have been set up to provide jobs to the youth. The District Poultry Development Officer l Dr Gulzar Hussain said his department has provided technical guidance, training and day old chicks to these poultry units, which the unit holders will rear into chickens. The chickens are salable in the winter season. On stocking for the winter season, Dr Gulzar said that two lakh seventy five thousand eggs have been so far stocked and four thousand birds have been purchased for distribution to the public.
