<span style="color: #222222;">A six-member central team to reach Assam on Wednesday the 26th of August to assess the flood situation.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Three waves of floods affected lakhs of people this year in the state. Participating in an AIR talk show last night, Commissioner- Secretary in Revenue department M S Manivannan said that the team would visit the affected areas.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said that, the Assam government has sent interim flood damage report to the Centre and has sought around Rs. 2300 crore to compensate floods damage.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> Mr. Manivannan said that flood water also caused huge damages to the infrastructure including roads, bridges and embankments.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said that efforts are being made as directed by the Chief Minister to compensate the erosion affected people. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He also said that over 80 thousand people were rescued by NDRF and SDRF.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Manivannan mentioned that flood shelter homes to be set up initially at three districts of Majuli, Barpeta and Lakhimpur to accommodate 1000 people during floods.</span>
