Six Maoists, four cops killed in Jharkhand

In Jharkhand, six Maoists have been killed by the security forces in an anti-maoist operation in the Saranda forest range. Four security persons have also lost their lives in the operation. Meanwhile, security forces have intensified the anti naxal drive in the western part of the state. Around 2000 security forces of the state police and the CRPF have been conducting search operation, during which fierce sporadic encounters with the Maoists are taking place since Friday. One CRPF jawan and two Maoists have been killed on Sunday in an ongoing encounter in the Tirilposhi jungle of the Saranda forest Range in West Singhbhum districts. DIG Kolhan Range Navin Kumar Singh who is leading the operation told reporters that three helicopters have also been pressed into service for surveillance and airlifting of the injured to the nearby hospitals in Rourkela in Orissa. Earlier police had destroyed a training camp in Nurda jungle of the same Saranda forest range. In another anti Naxal operation in the western part of the state, police has arrested a sub-zonal commander of Maoist Coordination Committee (MCC) Prakashji. According to the police sources, Prakashji was wanted in more than 24 incidents in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and Chattisgarh. In Bihar, police have arrested four maoists and seized a haul of explosives from their possession at Kakandra village in Gaya district. The Director General of Police (DGP) Neelmani said that the ultras are being questioned by the district police officials about their activities.
