Six people were killed in a fire at a gold mine in eastern China's Shandong province, while four others were rescued, state media reported on Wednesday. The four who were rescued had been sent to hospital for medical treatment. The fire occurred Wednesday morning during maintenance at the Caojiawa gold mine in the city of Zhaoyuan, the official news agency reported, citing local authorities.
''
''The fire which saw ten miners trapped, was the second major incident at a Shandong gold mine in little over a month. In January, a Hushan mine blast caused the death of atleast 10 miners and 11 workers were trapped for two weeks before being dramatically pulled out alive. Recurring mining incidents, however, have prompted authorities to launch more safety inspections.
