In Manipur, six persons have been killed in militant attacks with 69 percent of voters exercising their francise in the Assembly polls on Saturday. The polling for the sixty-member state assembly ended at 3 on Saturday afternoon.Police sources said, a group of heavily armed militants attacked Tampi polling station under Chandel reserved assembly constituency on Saturday morning. Three polling personnel, one CRPF Jawan and one civilian were killed in the attack. One militant was also killed, when security Forces returned fire. Two civilians were also injured in the incident. A helicopter has been sent to the spot to bring back the bodies of the victims to Imphal.In another polling station in the same constituency, polling has been suspended following attack by miscreants. The miscreants destroyed all the polling materials including the Electronic Voting Machines. In the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh , polling was suspended in two polling booths with a group of women ransacking the booths. Five women have been taken into custody by the security forces.In the hill district of Senapati also, miscreants tried to disrupt the poll process at three polling stations. Polling had to be suspended in two polling stations for some time due to the disruption. Security guards opened fire to disperse an unruly mob at another polling booth.
