India's rising shuttler PV Sindhu has stormed into Women's Singles quarterfinals of the India Open Super Series Badminton tournament in New Delhi. In the pre-quarterfinal fixture today, eighth seed Sindhu defeated China's Sun Yu, 19-21, 21-19, 21-15 to advance to the last eight stage. In men's singles match today, Indian rookie H.S.Prannoy defeated former world and Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia 26-24, 21-9.Later today, India's shuttle queen Saina Nehwal will play her women's singles pre-quarterfinal match against Yui Hashimoto of Japan. In men's singles matches, Sourabh Verma crashed out of the tournament after defeat at the hands of sixth seed Kenichi Tago of Japan. R.M.V.Gurusaidutt defeated his compatiort K.K.Srikanth 21-12, 21-16 to advance to next rouond. B.Sai Praneeth defeated Malaysia's Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin 16-21, 29-27, 21-16 to move to next round. Ajay Jayaram will meet Indonesia's Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka and Anand Pawar will take on Hongkong's Yun Hu later today. In Mixed doubles matches, the Indian pair of V.Diju and Jawala Gutta lost to Thai duo of Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam . The pair of Akshay Diwalkar and Pradanney Gadre also suffered defeat. In Women's doubles, Indian duo of Ashwini Ponappa and Pradanney Gadre crashed out of the tournament after defeat.
