Among the winners, unseeded H.S.Prannoy caused the biggest upset when he beat former world No.1 Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia 26-24, 21-9 to enter the third round of the men's singles event. P V Sindhu won her second round women's singles match against Yu Sun of China 19-21 21-19 21-15. R.M.V.Gurusaidutt defeated his compatiort K.K.Srikanth 21-12, 21-16 to advance to next round. B.Sai Praneeth defeated Malaysia's Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin 16-21, 29-27, 21-16 . Ajay Jayaram beat Indonesia's Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka 21-15, 21-12 and Anand Pawar defeated Hongkong's Yun Hu 21-15, 15-21, 21-10. Shuttle queen Saina Nehwal's was shocked by Yui Hashimoto of Japan 21-13, 12-21, 20-22 in the pre-quarters. In men's singles, Sourabh Verma crashed out of the tournament. In mixed doubles matches, Indian pair of V.Diju and Jawala Gutta and the duo of Akshay Diwalkar and Pradanney Gadre suffered defeat. In women's doubles too, Indian pair of Ashwini Ponappa and Pradanney Gadre crashed out.
