In Afghanistan, six foreign soldiers were killed in a militant attack in southern part of the country today. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed the deaths, but did not reveal the nationalities of the deceased or where exactly the incident took place. Most of NATO soldiers deployed to southern provinces are from the United States, Britain and Canada. More than 680 international soldiers have been killed in the war so far in 2010, the bloodiest year for US and NATO troops since the ouster of the Taliban regime in late 2001. A total of 521 foreign troops were killed in the conflict last year. Nearly 150,000 international forces are currently fighting the Taliban-led militancy in Afghanistan. The recent deaths come as US President Barack Obama will unveil a review of his Afghanistan war strategy next week. Meanwhile, five militants were killed and 7 others were arrested in Char Dara district of northern Kuduz province. Gen. Dawood Dawood said that the forces also seized arms and ammunition from the militants in a joint operation today.
