Mumbai police Commissioner D Sivanandan has been appointed the new Director General of Police by the Maharashtra government. <br/><br/>Outgoing DG A N Roy gave this information to media persons at a hurriedly called press conference in Mumbai today. He is retiring today after serving 38 years in the Indian Police Service (IPS).<br/><br/>Roy said the new city police commissioner would be Sanjeev Dayal, who is presently posted as Additional Director General of Police (Naxalist operation).<br/><br/>Since last couple of days, there was speculation that senior most IPS officer and Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Hasan Gafoor would be the new DG.
