In Assam, displaced people are returning home from relief camps in violence hit areas. Chief Executive Officer of state Disaster Management P K Tiwari told AIR that, people are returning as situation has improved. He said that relief materials are being given to camp inmates.
Over 2 lakh 86 thousand people had taken shelter in 4 affected districts. Mr. Tiwari also said that two teams of the Health Ministry are visiting relief camps today in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur district to access the ground situation on health care facilities being given to inmates.
They held talks with senior officials of the Assam government yesterday in Guwahati. On the other hand, a four member team of the BJP will visit Alipurdwar today in West Bengal where around 700 people from Kokrajhar district of Assam have taken shelter following recent massacre.
BJP MP and one of the members of the delegation, Rameshwar Telly said that he has visited a few camps in Kokrajhar district. Camp inmates complained that they have not received sufficient relief materials.
