Situation tense in Bareily; More areas under curfew

In Uttar Pradesh, more areas of Bareily city have been brought under curfew as the situation continued to be tense in localities which witnessed communal violence. Curfew has been extended to Subhash Nagar police station area. Officials said, the situation is tense but under control, With this curfew has been imposed in five police station areas of the city. Curfew has been imposed following largescale violence in which nearly 20 people, including an SP and some other policemen were injured. Several shops and vehicles were torched by the mob which also opened fire at a number of places in the city following which heavy force has been deployed through the district to avert further trouble.<br/>Meanwhile the administration has deployed one helicopter for surveillance in the Curfew bound areas of Subash nagar, Premnagar, Kotwali, Bardari and Quilla police station. AIR correspondent reports that, more than 300 persons have been booked under various section related to violent incidents. Extra forces have already been deployed in all the sensitive areas, 17 companies of PAC and two companies of RAF have already put on job in disturbed town. At least 9 extra police officers and 5 civil officers have also been placed in Bareilly to help the administration.
