Situation tense but under control in Saharanpur

In Uttar Pradesh, the situation in trouble hit areas of Saharanpur is tense but under control . Curfew continues in all six police stations of the district without any relaxation. Security has been beefed up. No fresh untoward incident is reported since yesterday. District administration has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors. Twenty people have been arrested.

Chief Minister Akhilesh has already announced financial assistance of rupees 10 lakh to kin of each diseased and rupees 50 thousand to seriously injured. So far three person have been killed in clash.

The trouble started when members of one group started construction work in Kutubsher area in the wee hours of yesterday morning, which was objected to by another group. Both the sides indulged in heavy brick batting, arson and opened fire. More than one and half dozen including two police men were injured in group clashes. More than fifty shops and one dozen of vehicles were torched.
