As the situation is limping back to normal in our earthquake ravaged Sikkim, the attention now is shifted towards restoration works. The State Government has allocated sufficient funds to the District Collectors of all the four districts to undertake relief and rehabilitation works for the disaster victims. The High Court of Sikkim has established a Disaster Management Committee to coordinate with the State Legal Services Authority in rendering legal aid and services to the victims of disaster. More from our Gangtok correspondent:The Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chmaling on Saturday called upon the people of the State to stand together to rebuild Sikkim ,ravaged by the recent earthquake. Addressing a gathering at Namchi on his first visit of the South district since the Earthquake of the last Sunday, he announced that he will not celebrate the festival of Dusshera and Diwali this year, as a mark of respect for the departed soul. On the other hand, the Central Relief Committee for Sikkim constituted by the Bharatiya Janata Party reached Gangtok this evening with relief materials for North Sikkim. The Committee includes former chief minister of Uttarakhand Mr.Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former cricketer and Punjab MP Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu and former Arunachal Pradesh MP Mr.Tapirgoan.
