Situation peaceful in Kashmir valley today

In Kashmir valley, the situation is peaceful today. Authorities have lifted curfew from the entire Srinagar city and other main towns barring Kupwara. Shops and business establishments are open and public transport is also plying. The separatists have also relaxed hartal for today. Meanwhile, in a significant development, Jammu Kashmir Jamat- e- Islami, a separatist organisation, has urged Hurriyat leader Sayed Ali Geelani to consider exempting schools from protest hartals. It also asked Geelani to keep the hardships of daily wagers and other poor sections of society into consideration while announcing future calendar of protest.
