In Andhra Pradesh, the situation is peaceful with most of the educational institutes in Telangana region remaining closed today. The educational institutes are closed in response to the bandh call given by the Student Joint Action Committee of Osmania University and the Telangana political Joint Action Committee in protest against the Srikrishana Committee Report. Telangana forum of Telugu Desam leaders have also extended support to the bandh. Denouncing the Srikrishna Committee report, demonstrations and rallies have been held at several places across the Telangana region. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the law and order situation in the state and directed the police to observe restraint while dealing with agitating mobs.Meanwhile, hectic political parleys are underway over the Srikrsihna Committee report. The public representatives of both Congress and Telugu Desam parties from Telangana Regions have held separate meetings to discuss the fall out of the report. The Srikrishna report made public yesterday has given six options and recommended for keeping the State of Andhra Pradesh united alongwith constitutional and statutory measures for empowerment of Telangana region. The report has also said that creating a separate state of Telangana is the second best option to tackle the statehood demand. Meanwhile, All India Congress Committee in-charge of Andhra Pradesh M Veerappa Moily has said that the centre will look into the National, Political and regional points of view on the Telangana issue and take a holistic decision on the matter.
