Situation in clash hit Saharanpur tense but under control; Home Minister briefs PM

In Uttar Pradesh, situation in the clash hit Saharanpur is still tense but under control.

Curfew continues without any relaxation in all six urban police stations of the district. Second day of curfew passed off peacefully without any untoward incident on Sunday.

Administration is trying to normalize the situation at the earliest and has appealed people not to go by rumours.

Security has been beefed and strict vigil is on.

AIR correspondent reports, tense peace prevails in trouble hit area of Saharanpur.

Administration claims the situation totally under control.

The Saharanpur district magistrate Sandhya Tiwari while talking to media person said that as of now 38 people have been arrested and 9 FIR registered.

Police forces are constantly patrolling and security beefed up at 74 places in curfew bound areas.

People are impatient for lifting of curfew. Educational institutions will remain close till 30th of this month.

Chief Minister Akhilesh has already announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to kin of each of the three person killed in clash and Rs. 50, 000 to seriously injured.

Union Minister Kalraj Mishra has condemned the incident terming it as shameful and plotted.

Congress leader and MLA Reeta Bahuguna Joshi asked for early restoration of peace in trouble Saharanpur.

Maulan Abul Kasim Naumani of Darul- Ulum Devband , Sahranpur has appealed to people for peace.

The violent clash between the two groups broke out at dawn yesterday over construction at a disputed place of religious faith under Kutubsher area police station.

Both the sides indulged in heavy brick batting, arson and opened fire. More than 18 people including two policemen were injured in group clash.
Over fifty shops and one dozen vehicles were torched.

HOME MINISTER BRIEFS PM ABOUT SITUATION IN SAHARANPUR

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the situation in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, where clashes erupted between two communities over a land dispute yesterday.

Twenty six have been arrested in the violent clashes.
