Situation in clash-hit Saharanpur remains tense, but under control

In Uttar Pradesh, the situation in clash hit Saharanpur remains tense but under control. The district administration toady relaxed curfew for four hours in all six curfew bound police station circles.

No untoward incident from any where in curfew relaxed area is reported. AIR correspondent reports that the curfew was lifted in two phases. In first phase curfew was relaxed for four hours from 10.AM to 02.00 PM in new city area and some parts of Dehat kotwali police stations.

In the second phase relaxation was given from 3 PM to 7.00 PM in the old city area and Dehat kotwali police stations. The situation seems returning to normalcy. Central Para Military Forces besides police and PAC are constantly patrolling and officials are keeping vigil on the situation.

The Saharanpur district magistrate Sandhya Tiwari while talking to media person yesterday evening said that as of now 38 people have been arrested and 9 FIR registered. Educational institutions will remain close till 30th of this month.

The violent clash between the two groups broke out on Saturday in dawn when a minority group people objected the construction of a place of religious faith of other minority group under Kutubsher area police station.

AIR correspondent reports that curfew was lifted for four hours from curfew bound area of Saharanpur today. No untoward incident is reported from anywhere in the area. During the curfew free time people were seen extremely busy in purchasing house hold and grocery items.

In view of Eid festival tomorrow administration is mulling how to facilitate people for Namaz prayers. If situation remains under control, It seems the curfew may be relaxed for more time tomorrow.
