Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has directed the DGP to step up confidence building measures and undertake strategic deployment of forces so that displaced people can return home as soon as possible. Mr. Gogoi today held a review meeting with senior officials in Guwahati. Chief Executive Officer of Disaster Management P K Tiwari said that no untoward incident has been reported during last 24 hours. Mr. Tiwari said over 1 lakh 76 thousand people are taking shelter in 136 relief camps. He said that inmates are being given food items, baby food, blankets, candles and firewood. Additional doctors of ambulances have been deputed from National Health Mission. Public Health engineering department deployed 15 Mobile Treatment Plants in addition to tankers and water purifiers in affected districts. Different media organizations in Guwahati are extending supports in mobilising relief materials.
Meanwhile, security forces busted a hideout of Bodo militants near Indo- Bhutan border areas this evening. IGP, L R Bishnoi told AIR that, a joint team of the army, police and paramilitary forces busted the hideout under Serfanguri police station in Kokrajhar district. He said that seven motorcycles and a car used by militants were recovered. In another incident, 4 miscreants were arrested under Damruguri village while trying to set ablaze houses in Kokrajhar district.
