The situation in Lower Assam by and large remained calm during the last 48 hours. Curfew has been relaxed in Chirang district for 15 hours from 5 am to 8pm today. As the situation improved, the Assam government expedited the rehabilitation works in the violence hit areas. A team of Special Commissioners appointed by the Supreme Court will visit Chirang and Kokrajhar district today to take stock of the relief measures.
