Situation in Afghanistan deteriorating: Hillary Clinton

With the top American military commander in Afghanistan seeking an additional 40,000 troops, the US has acknowledged that the situation in the war-torn country is deteriorating and Taliban have the momentum now.Secretary of State Hillary Clinton agreed with the report of General Stanley McChrystal, Commander of the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, on the situation in the war-torn country. At the same time, Mrs Clinton noted that there are some positive developments in Afghanistan as many more people, particularly children, women, girls, are back in school and they also get health care. When asked how long the US will be in Afghanistan, she emphasised the need for protecting the interests of America and its allies. McChrystal, in a recent report to President Barack Obama, had said the situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating. The US General has also been seeking an additional 40,000 US troops in Afghanistan so as to defeat the al-Qaeda and Taliban in the country.
