The situation in violence hit Bodoland Territorial Area District, BTAD has improved as no untoward incident has been reported. Security personnel have also been deployed at 104 fixed pickets. District administrations have closed 101 camps so far. Assam government has ordered a judicial enquiry into the BTAD and Dhubri district violence. CBI is also investigating seven cases.
Meanwhile, Kokrajhar district administration has taken family photograph in all the relief camps for identification of camp inmates. District administration assured to verify the nationality of the inmates during the process of rehabilitations.
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will visit Kokrajhar and Dhubri district tomorrow. State Home Secretary said that both the leaders will visit four relief camps at Panbari and Hasimara. Both the leaders will also take stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures that have taken by the administration.
They will meet representatives of various organizations in both districts. A team of Minority Commission today visited a few relief camps in Dhubri district.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urged the Union Home Minister to ensure safety of the people of Assam who are residing in other parts of the country. He also asked the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Karnataka to take all measures for the security of the people of Assam after incident of violence has been reported.
