Minister of State for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman has stressed for further simplification of tax structure to facilitate tax payers to comply and pay off the due tax. Addressing the valedictory session of the two-day Annual Conference of Principal Chief Commissioners and senior officials of Income Tax in New Delhi on Tuesday she said that the citizens have to become lawful compliant rather than tax evaders. The Minister hoped that the deliberations of the two-day Conference would be helpful to the senior officers in handling various tax related issues and in reducing tax litigation and strengthening of grievance redressal mechanism. She also released a Handbook on Effective Handling of Cases before Settlement Commission.
