Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today held a meeting with the heads of Industry bodies and deliberated upon issues including impact of Free Trade Agreements, ways to promote start-ups and boost economic growth in the country. The meeting was called by the minister in view of upcoming union budget. Talking to media persons after the meeting, Nirmala Sitharaman said, the ministry had a detailed discussion on the industry, investment and understood the situation that is prevailing in the industry's mind about what is happening in the Indian economy today. She informed that surge in imports, competitiveness of some sectors and increasing investments were the key issues raised by them in the meeting. CII designated President, Naushad Forbes, said on start-ups there is a need to remove regulatory burden for such firms which are below a certain threshold limit and make it more attractive.
