AIR Correspondent reports, sitting MLA Rabindra Nath Bhattacharya a turncoat from Trinamool Congress is contesting this time on BJP ticket. 89 year old Bhattacharya had retained this seat in 2016 assembly elections defeating CPM nominee Rabin Dey with a margin of more than 20,000 votes. Rabindra Nath Bhattacharya has represented this seat since the 2001 assembly elections.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">BJP was in third position with over 14,000 votes in its kitty that time. The CPM which is contesting under the banner of Sanyukt Morcha has fielded student wing SFI leader Srijan Bhattacharya from this seat.
