Mr. Abhishek Singhvi has been reappointed as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances and Law and Justice, paving the way for early consultations over the Lokpal Bill. The 31-member Committee is among the several Parliamentary Committees reconstituted by Speaker Meira Kumar in consultation with Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari. The Committee has been asked to give its report within three months.The term of the earlier Committee headed by Singhvi was over on the 31st of last month. While the Rajya Sabha has renominated most of the members on this Committee as also on other Committees, the Speaker decided the composition from the Lower House in consultation with political parties.
