Singapore Open: PV Sindhu, Sai Praneeth enter quarters

Top Indian shuttlers P V Sinndhu and B Sai Praneeth, and the pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and B Sumeeth Reddy entered the Quarter Finals of the Singapore Open Badminton Super-series tournament today.In Women's singles, Sindhu defeated Indonesian World No.27 Fitriani Fitriani 19-21, 21-17, 21-8 in a pre-quarter final match. She will take on Spain's Carolina Marin in the Quarter-final clash. This will be their third meeting in 4 months. Incidentally, Sindhu defeated Marin on both occasions.In Men's Singles, B Sai Praneeth defeated China's Qiao Bin 21-15, 21-23, 21-16. World No.30 Praneeth will clash with 8th seeded Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand next.=In Mixed Doubles, the pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and B. Sumeeth Reddy beat the Korean pair of Jae Hwan Kim and Lee So Hee 17-21, 21-17, 21-16. They will take on third seeded Chinese combo of Lu Kail andl Huang Yaqiong next. In women's doubles, however, the Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N.Sikki Reddy lost to Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahasi of Japan 11-21, 21-19,12-21. In Men's singles, India's Kidambi Srikanth will take on Ihsan Maulana Mustofa later today.
