Sindhu, Srikanth to lead Indian challenge at Hong Kong Superseries Badminton Tournament

P V Sindhu and K. Srikanth will lead the Indian charge at the Hong Kong Superseries Badminton Tournament starting today at Kowloon. Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal is out of action due to an injury. Indians have been handed tough draws as Sindhu will be up against top seed and world champion Carolina Marin of Spain in the opening round. Sindhu had defeated the All England champion at the Denmark Open last month but she has a 2-3 overall record against the Spaniard.In the Men's singles event, last year semifinalist K. Srikanth, has been pitted against 10th ranked Chinese Tian Houwei, who has beaten the Indian four times in as many meetings. Ajay Jayaram, will square off against top seed and two-time world champion Chen Long in the first round, while H S Prannoy, will open his campaign against a qualifier. In women's doubles, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa's pair will play the eighth-seeded Korean pair of Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan in tournament opener.
