In Haryana, the silver jubilee celebrations of seven zonal cultural centres, ZCC of India begins today. The theme of four day celebrations, which would conclude on April 16, is “Maati Ke Rang”.Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate this mega cultural event in the presence of UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi. The Union Minister of Culture Kr. Sailja will also grace the occassion. The Governors of Punjab, Rajasthan, UttarPradesh, West Bengal, Nagaland, Maharashtra and Tamilnadu, who are also chairpersons of the ZCC in their respective states and Chief Minister of the host state, Bhupender Singh Hooda would also participate in the inaugural ceremony. Around 1500 renowned artists from the country would enthrall the audience with their performances during the celebrations. The festival would be full of all colours of Indian culture and reflect our traditions heritage and various forms of arts. The hundred of artists and artisans have come from various regions to showcase their talent and art forms. It is pertinent to recall, the zonal cultural centres have been envisioned and conceptualised by the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who realised that culture is the most suitable tool that can be used as the base of national integration.All India Radio, Delhi will today broadcast a live programme on the inaugural function of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Zonal Cultural Centres of India from Panchkula, Haryana. The programme will be available on Rajdhani Channel, RN support DLS-8 and DLC-10 from 6:50 pm. onwards.
