Silent protests are being held across the capital as a mark of respect for the gang rape victim. Scores of people are gathered at Jantar Mantar in Central Delhi demanding stringent punishment for the culprits. Jawaharlal Nehru University students are also holding a silent protest near the Munirka flyover, the spot where the victim had boarded the bus along with her friend on the night of 16th December.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has asked Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to allow people to go to India Gate to protest. Earlier, Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said people can gather at Jantar Manar and the Ramlila ground in the city to hold peaceful protests.
