<span style="color: #222222;">Sikkim's response to the Janata Curfew called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in view of the COVID-19 outbreak has been overwhelming. Following strong communication campaigns and appeals from Sikkim governor Ganga Prasad, Chief Minister PS Tamang and other influencers, capital Gangtok wore a deserted look today, which, otherwise, is the busiest day of the week at markets including Lal Bazaar. While all shops except medicine outlets and those providing essential services were open, traffic movement on the main National Highway 310 has been minimal.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />''The response to the Prime Minister's call in other districts was also phenomenal.The South District implemented a complete ban on movement of vehicles except those on emergency duty and providing essential services. Public transport services were also suspended, besides the closure of all hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, industries, private companies and power developers. Sunday prayer services at churches were also cancelled in support of the Janata Curfew in Namchi, Jorethang, Yangang and Ravang. Similarly, in North and West Sikkim, all shops except medicine outlets, restaurants, markets and public places remained shut. Even defence vehicle movement in North Sikkim was minimal. All district administrations have issued prohibitory orders.</span><br />
