Sikkim will now have earthquake resistant construction manuals and a greater care will be taken to protect life and property of the people in the future. The State Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling announced this while inaugurating a five day long'Sikkim Spring Carnival' at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok today. The inaugural function was marked by a programme, named 'Military Tattoo', organized by the 17th Mountain Division of the Indian army. A fly past by the Army Helicopters, cultural programmes, martial arts display and dogs show were the highlights of the programme. AIR correspondent reports that the Sikkim Spring Carnival, organized by the State Tourism and Civil Aviation Department in all the four districts of Sikkim simultaneously, is aimed at further wooing the tourists to the State, recuperating after the last year’s 18th September earthquake .
