Sikkim is soon going to have its own Judicial Academy. A Supreme Court Judge Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir laid its foundation stone at Sokeythang. He also inaugurated a Legal Clinic at the State Jail at Rongyek, near Gangtok today. AIR correspondent reports that the proposed Sikkim Judicial Academy will also be the first such institution in the entire North East region which besides facilitating training and reorientation of judicial officers of Sikkim, will be equally helpful to other North-Eastern states. The Union Ministry for Law and Justice has allocated a sum of five hundred crore rupees for the construction of the Sikkim Judicial Academy to be spread over 1.5 acres of land.
