In Sikkim, all schools and colleges will open today after a gap of over 20 days since the devastating earthquake jolted the State last month. AIR correspondent reports that regular classes will be held in all the schools from the first day itself as the government is keen to make up for the lost days. The nine members Central Assessment Team led by Mr. Shambhu Singh has assured that pre-fabricated structures will be made available wherever the school buildings have been totally collapsed. The Team has asked the State Government officials to submit a list of such school buildings immediately. The Team which is now at the West district headquarter Geyzing, will be visiting Yuksom and Dentam before returning to the capital on Monday. Meanwhile, a yet another Central Team consisting of three structural engineers is reaching Gangtok on Monday. The team will be inspecting the collapsed and damaged infrastructures in the capital and also at other places for suggesting ways and means to make them earthquake resistant during its stay.
