The Sikkim Government has put a ban on excavations and new constructions in the earthquake hit State. Meanwhile the life is fast returning to normal in Sikkim. The BRO re-opened the Gangtok-Nathula Road on Thursday. Tourism industry is ready to welcome the tourists from Sunday. The Urban Development and Housing department believes that fresh excavations in already disturbed soil may trigger fresh slides, causing damage to life and property. As the relief and rescue works are now giving way for rehabilitation and restoration works, gradually, the task of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) too is almost over. Consequently, it plans to pull out all its men from the affected areas, now. On the other hand, about a dozen Psychiatrists of the State Government are engaged in counselling the traumatized people and pulling them out of their mental agony and fear psychosis, caused by the recent earthquake. A four member team from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurological Science ‘NIMAHANS’ Bangalore too has joined them for a couple of days.
