Sikkim flash floods: Food items to be air dropped in Toong Naga

In Sikkim, the state administration will air drop food items at Toong Naga about 45 kilometres off from Gangtok for its distribution to people living in remote and inaccessible areas of north Sikkim. The State Chief Secretary, Karma Gyatso who made aerial survey of the affected area this morning directed the district administration to take all measures for relief and rehabilitation of affected families. Officials say about 80 landslides of various dimensions occurred at various places of north Sikkim in last three days due to incessant rain.The state administration has been asked Army and BRO to meet the requirement of diesel and petrol supply till any further arrangement. The electricity supply in north district being provided through generators and water supply through tankers are expected to be restored within seven to ten days. Meanwhile, a team comprising of mining and Geology experts will soon be deployed at vulnerable Mangan and Chungthang to assess its land stability.
