<span style="color: #222222;">Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang today chaired a meeting to review the COVID-19 scenario in Gangtok.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Tamang congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA government on completing the first year of its second term.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said that Sikkim government has been successfully handling the COVID-19 situation so far and the state is equipped to deal with any exigency.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He said that the government is preparing a strategy to evacuate people stranded in Maharashtra, considering the increasing rate of infection. He announced a complete ban on inter-district vehicular and people's movement during 1st to 15th June, 2020. He said that intra-district vehicle movement will continue on odd-even basis.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The chief minister announced that educational institutions will not be able to resume from 15th June as planned owing to the prevailing situation and directed the education department to ensure that all educational institutions are ready to start functioning from 1st July, 2020.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He added that college and university students stranded outside the state will not be allowed to return before 15th June. He said that institutions and pharmaceutical companies will be requested to prepare their own quarantine facilities.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Tamang suggested that students from neighbouring states studying in Sikkim should be allowed to select their home state as their examination centre. He directed the education department to immediately prepare a proposal in this regard.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The chief minister expressed happiness on the commencement of RTPCR testing in Sikkim scheduled from tomorrow.</span><br />''
