Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang chaired a meeting of the State Task Force in Gangtok yesterday. The meeting was convened to deliberate on urgent issues related to the COVID-19 situation, especially recent guidelines on intra and inter-state movement of people and vehicles issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
''
''Following the State Task Force meeting, Sikkim Government has allowed intra and inter-district movement of persons and passenger vehicles on odd-even basis during Monday to Friday. However, only local movement has been allowed on Saturdays and Sundays. These relaxations do not apply to containment zones.
''
''No changes have been made to inter-state movement protocol. Sikkimese returnees would be screened and sent on stringent home quarantine on meeting stipulated criteria.
''
''Considering the surge in COVID-19 cases among employees of pharmaceutical companies operating in Sikkim, exclusive quarantine centres will be identified for these returnees. The same will apply for labourers. Other decisions taken at the meeting include formulation of separate protocol for non-COVID-19 medical services at state hospitals.
