<span style="color: #222222;">Sikkim Chief Minister P S Tamang today appealed to all to donate to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. In a tweet, he conveyed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan for acting promptly towards establishing Indian Council of Medical Research-approved COVID-19 Testing Centre at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Silliguri, West Bengal.<br />'' <br />'' Separately, former Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front leader Pawan Chamling also appealed to citizens to follow lockdown guidelines. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing the lockdown to check the spread of COVID-19.<br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, the East Sikkim District Civil Supplies Office today informed that there is no shortage of food and other essential commodities in the district and at the current stock levels.  District Civil Supplies Officer Dakman Subba said that the Administration will be able to cater to supplies for another two months. He said that as of now there is a stock of 80,000 metric tonnes of food grains at Food Corporation of India godowns. Mr Subba informed that nine godowns in Sikkim have adequate essential food commodities.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Subba said, in view of the current situation due to COVID-19, East District has already completed distribution for March through the Public Distribution System and is prepared to supply for the next month, if needed.<br />'' <br />'' Mr Subba appealed to people not to panic for supplies and not stock the essentials unnecessarily. He said, the department has also made arrangements with West Bengal Government in Siliguri to provide adequate vegetables as per the demand of Sikkim. The department has already issued more than 30 permits to Fair Price Shops across the district for carrying required essential commodities from Siliguri.<br />'' <br />'' The South Sikkim District Administration in collaboration with Fire and Emergency Services, Namchi on today initiated a set of measures, including disinfecting Namchi town to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Frontline staff of Namchi Fire Services undertook this drive to sanitize the area. The drive was carried out at Central Park, Car Plaza, Organic Market and Sikkim Nationalized Transport complex.<br />'' <br />''<br />''In an order released today, the West Sikkim District Administration suspended all weekly markets in the district.
