A meeting of the State Cabinet held on 17th October at Gangtok under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang granted administrative approval and financial sanction of&nbsp; 881,91,00,000 rupees (Eight Hundred Eighty-One Crore and Ninety-One Lakhs rupees) towards construction of 2100 houses under Punarvaas Awas Yojana and 2000 Houses under Janta Housing Colony.&nbsp;<br />''&nbsp;<br />''In a press release additional secretary in the cabinet said, in Punarvaas Yojana Government will allot the constructed houses to the owners of houses that have been totally washed away in the recent Teesta Flash Floods and owners of houses that have been severely/partially damaged by the floods and are no more inhabitable.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Under the Sikkim Janta Housing Colony, 2000 Houses will be constructed to rehabilitate the tenants of houses that have been totally washed away in the Teesta Flash Floods and tenants of Houses that have been severely/partially damaged by the floods and are no more inhabitable.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Similarly, in order to support the students, who have lost all their belongings in Flash Flood, the Govt. would provide a one time grant of ten thousand rupees per student for purchase of new uniform and note books.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Cabinet has also taken a decision to constitute a technical committee of eminent scientists of the country comprising of Glaciologist, Geologist, Seismologist, Hydrologist etc., in consultation with National Disaster Management Authority NDMA to look into the causes of the recent disaster that struck the state.</span><br />
