A complete bandh is being observed in Punjab. According to our Chandigarh correspondent reports that bandh is peaceful so far. Shops are closed. However hospitals and medical shops are open. Private vehicles are seen on the roads. Some trains which were to left for their destinations in the morning have been stopped at Amritsar. Rail and road traffic has been badly hit. Various Sikh organisations have given a call for this bandh demanding justice to the 1984 riot victims. Our Jalandhar Correspondent reports that many trains including Shatabadi Express were not moved by railway authorities in view of the protest since early morning. In Jalandhar, Chattisgarh Express and Dehradun Mail trains have been suspended. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has assured that law & order would be maintained at all cost. Security has been tightened in the state. In a statement, while describing the 1984 riots as genocide of the Sikhs Mr. Badal has sought personal intervention of President and Prime Minister to set up special courts to provide speedier justice to the victims.<br/>
