President Pranab Mukherjee has said that significant reforms have taken place since the departmentalisation of civil accounts service. He said this while addressing the gathering on the occasion of 40th Civil Accounts Day in New Delhi. Mr Mukherjee said India's tryst with accounting dates back to its ancient past. He said there are records of importance of public finances and expenditures and revenues in history.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said such occasions provide an opportunity to reflect on the past achievements and ponder over future opportunities. Mr Jaitley recalled contributions of Mr Mukherjee towards economic and financial sector reforms including public financial administration.
