Sign language be one of recognized languages throughout world: Thaawarchand Gehlot

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot, today said, Sign language for the hearing Impaired (Divyaang) should become one of the recognized languages throughout the world. He was speaking after inaugurating a National Conference on Empowering Persons with Disabilities. Appreciating the efforts of Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLTRC), Mr. Gehlot said, the conference is a historic moment in the efforts to standardize the sign language throughout the country. Emphasizing the initiatives taken by his government he urged Divyaangs to utilize the Government schemes aimed at them.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Minister of State in the same Ministry, Krishan Pal Gurjar said, his ministry will leave no stone unturned in the empowerment of Divyaangs and actively support the efforts to unify the sign languages. Our correspondent reports that over 250 participants in the field of sign language across the country are attending the conference. Various aspects relating to empowerment of Divyaangs would be touched upon later in the day and recommendations would be made to the Government for actions.
