Sierra Leone lifted a nationwide curfew today which followed an armed rebellion attacking military barracks and a prison, in the capital city of Freetown. Army spokesperson, Colonel Issa Bangura, said 20 people were killed including 13 soldiers, three assailants, a police officer, a civilian and someone working in private security in the violence on Sunday. He added, eight people were wounded and three arrested.&nbsp;<br />''<br />''Allegedly, 2,000 prisoners escaped from Pademba Road Central Prison. The police urged inmates to return to prison in a statement on Monday and offered public rewards for details on the whereabouts of escapees. In a televised address, President Julius Maada Bio assured that most of the leaders behind the attack had been arrested and it was an attack on democracy.<br />''<br />''The West African nation is still recovering from civil war which went on for more than a decade, finally ending in 2002. More than 50,000 people lost their lives in the war. Tensions became heightened in the country since President Bio's re-election campaign fraught with electoral fraud charges in June this year.<br />
