Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Siddaramaiah has charged the State Government with evacuating poor people from their sheds to make way for developers to build commercial complexes. He was talking to news persons on Wednesday after inspecting the site where the Bangalore Development Authority had demolished several houses on Monday. Several sheds in Giddadakonenahalli village in Yeshwanthpur assembly segment of Bangalore were demolished to acquire the land for forming layouts and constructing schools by the Bangalore development Authority. Siddaramaiah and Congress leader Ugrappa informed the media persons that Government had distributed 910 sites to the landless workers in 1975. Thereafter the High Court and the Supreme Court had ruled in favour of the habitants. The Courts had asked the Government to allow the beneficiaries of the Government scheme to continue living on the land. Siddaramaiah accused the Government for allowing its authorities to act against the court order and for demolishing the sheds.
