Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal today asked parents to focus on vocational education for their children to enhance their employability. Launching a pilot project on National Vocational Education Qualifications Framework, NVEQF, in Gurgaon today, Mr Sibal said, the parents should see to it that their children get vocational training instead of only normal education. He said there is a need to give them such education which gets them employment in the future. Emphasizing on the need to change the structure of education in the country, he informed that 100 community colleges will be launched soon.
AIR Correspondent reports that NVEQF is aimed at bringing about perception change in the way the society views vocational education and restore its relevance to enhance employability of the youth. The project is an integrated education and competency based skill framework providing for credit accumulation and transfer.
